Drainage Supplies
Shop for ACO components and other drainage supplies from Ovation Landscaping. If you’re laying a porcelain patio or installing a block-paved driveway, UK regulations state that new construction projects must channel water to a proper disposal point.
For linear drainage, we stock the ACO Hexdrain Plastic Channel Drain A15 with Microgrip (certified to Load Class A15, suitable for pedestrian areas where vehicles will not pass over the drain).
We also stock compatible fittings. The ACO Hexdrain Plastic Channel Drainage Corner Unit & Vertical Outlet helps create changes of direction, and the ACO Hexdrain and Raindrain Channel Drain End Caps and Outlet Accessories Pack helps finish a run.
Choosing drainage for patios and paths
The purpose of a well-positioned surface water drainage channel is to intercept runoff before it pools, and Ovation Landscaping’s range of drainage supplies is the right solution for residential landscaping projects.
If you’re designing the layout, consider finished paving levels, the direction of fall and where collected water can discharge, as a surface water drainage channel shouldn’t just move water from one problem area to another. A channel should form part of a properly planned system.
For example, if you’re planning drainage for doorways and level-access areas, the Threshold Drain Corner Unit Aluminium Grating comes with a corner format that helps runs turn around an entrance.
Our customers should remember that ACO threshold products are intended for pedestrian settings (door thresholds, paths, courtyards and patios), not driveways.
Connecting and completing the installation
A driveway drainage system is only as good as its weakest component.
Having the correct accessories is just as essential as the channels themselves. The Threshold Drain 110mm Bottom Outlet 19011 connects the threshold channel to 110mm drainage pipework.
It allows the channel to sit close to the building while connecting below. Some other useful drainage supplies include the Threshold Outlet End Cap 50mm Dia. 19003 and Threshold Drain Bottom Connector 19001,
Planning driveway drainage
UK regulations for surface water runoff state that paved areas must channel water to a proper disposal point, like a soakaway, rather than letting it flow onto adjacent properties.
Channel drainage systems, like the A15 HexDrain product, are designed for light-duty domestic and pedestrian applications, so check if your proposed position will be crossed by vehicles.
Where a drain sits directly within a trafficked driveway, a higher load-rated product may be required.
You won’t have to worry about cracking in high-traffic areas. Our concrete paving slabs mean you can enjoy heavy footfall through your property for years to come. Our weather-resistant paving stands strong against even the harshest of conditions. Purchase slabs in various sizes, from smaller 100x150x50 paving to larger 210x146x60 products. We’ve even got mixed-sized packs.
With paving unique to you, Ovation Landscaping wants to make maintaining a garden even easier. Seal the deal with one of our beginner-friendly stabilisers, designed for binding block paving slabs together and preventing stains. Browse our functional, decorative curb slates. Add them as kerbing around driveways, planted areas and newly-created paths.

For most pedestrian paths, linear channel drainage systems, like our ACO Hexdrain range, are suitable. The ACO Hexdrain Plastic Channel Drain A15 with Microgrip collects surface water along the edge of paved areas and directs it towards an outlet.
If your patio sits completely flush against your house or bi-fold doors, you’ll want to use a threshold drain to prevent rainwater from breaching your property's damp-proof course.
No. ACO Threshold drainage supplies are intended for pedestrian areas (e.g., doorways, paths, courtyards, smaller patios) - they’re not designed to withstand vehicle traffic (unless specified).
For a driveway, you should use a drainage system with an appropriate vehicle load rating. ACO recommends at least Load Class B125 for most domestic driveways.
Every few months, or after a heavy storm, lift the gratings off your channels and scoop out leaves, silt, or debris that has accumulated. Once the channel is clear, flush it with a garden hose to make sure the water is flowing into your underground pipework.
To guarantee your driveway drainage system is watertight, you’ll need end caps to seal off the open ends of your channel run. Connect the channels to your underground 110mm PVC drainage pipes; you also need an outlet (either vertical or end, depending on your setup).
Match the outlet to the channel range, pipe diameter and direction of discharge. The Threshold Drain 110mm Bottom Outlet 19011 connects the compatible threshold system to 110mm pipework.
